Bert Sampson arrived in the Puget Sound and found work as the key cutter for Sears in Tacoma. After working there for several years, he started his own company in 1958 called the Renton Key Shop. He started out on the corner of Rainier Avenue and Grady Way in Renton, Washington. His primary business was simply cutting keys. As business continued to grow for Bert, he knew he wanted to be more than just a key shop. He was always fascinated by learning new things and so he continually worked on adding to his technician’s knowledge.
Over time, he had added a number of additional skills and services including lock sales, installation, and service because of his passion for the security and safety of the clientele. He was great at being able to listen to the needs of the customers and adapt services to meet these needs. This was one of the reasons he was so well respected and known. Because of this focus on the customer and finding new ways to help keep his “customers stay safe”, Rob Watson decided to purchase the business from Bert.
Rob was looking for just this type of organization because he too was focused heavily on the customer and had a passion for security. Rob became the owner in 1997, adding electronic security to the mix. Renton Key Shop changed its name in 2000 to Watson Security to better represent the additional electronic security products and services and to continue the original commitment to serve our customers.

Nyberg Locksmiths
The Nyberg family founded Nyberg Locksmiths in 1921 with the desire to provide downtown Seattle with excellent customer service in providing lock, key, and safes products and service. Over the 89 years taking care of the customers has been the key to success. Nyberg Lock is a key business in the Bell Town neighborhood as well as all of downtown Seattle. Rob Watson purchased Nyberg Locksmiths in 2006 to service the Seattle City core and the long history of customer service fits in with Rob’s company philosophy.

Redmond Lockworks
Lockworks in Redmond has been a well known and established full locksmith service company – serving the Redmond and other communities for many years. Watson Security recently took over the operations and all phone lines and communications will now be centralized through Watson Security. We did not want the customers who were accustomed to having a local locksmith available to be left without this valuable support in this area. We have made the transfers and now anyone calling the Redmond Lockworks number will be transferred directly to Watson Security where we can immediately respond and take care of these customers.

AAA Locksmith and Security Consultants
In 1972 AAA LockSmith opened in Seattle’s Capitol Hill area. The company has earned a reputation of providing quality service and became very well known in Seattle. In 2010 AAA LockSmith joined Watson Security to enhance the product and service offering to his clientele. AAA LockSmith relocated to and is now consolidated into Watson Security’s Nyberg Lock location to provide extended hours, increased customer service, and an expanded product and service offering.
